Pro removes the ads. That is the only difference — no lesson or feature is ever locked behind it. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, auto-renew until cancelled, and are managed in your App Store or Google Play account. Each Understood In app is sold separately, so a subscription applies to the language app you bought it in.
Honesty note: the courses are written by AI and reviewed for accuracy. Lessons are explained in the language you choose; translations other than English are machine-generated. The language you learn is the same in every interface language. This is disclosed inside the app too.

Is Understood In one app or several?
Several. Understood In is an umbrella brand for a family of language courses, and each language is its own app with its own App Store and Google Play listing — Understood In Spanish, Understood In French, and so on. Eight are planned.
They are all built from the same codebase, so they work identically and handle your data identically. You download only the language you want to learn.
Does Understood In Pro cover every language app?
No. Each Understood In app is sold separately, so a Pro subscription applies to the app you bought it in. If you learn two languages and want both ad-free, that is two subscriptions.
Pro only ever removes ads — every lesson in every app is free either way, so a second course costs you nothing to study.
Is every lesson really free?
Yes. The entire course, A1 to C2, is free in every Understood In app — along with speaking practice, stories, conversations, Smart Review, flashcards and quizzes. There are no hearts, no energy bars and no paywalled lessons.
The free version shows ads between lessons, never inside one. Pro removes them, and that is the only thing it does.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
Neither. There is no sign-up and no server: the whole course ships inside the app and works fully offline, and your progress stays on your device where we cannot see it.
The app goes online only for ads in the free version, ad-consent, and store purchases. Because nothing syncs to us, use Settings → Export progress to keep your own copy, and keep your device backups on.
